would suspension for a b5 a4 fit a b5 s4? the only difference i know about is from the factory the s4 suspension was a sport suspension made just for it but i would imagine that any aftermarket setup would be acceptable, as long as the drivetrain is the same( FWD, AWD). would this assumption be wrong?

If I remember correctly you're right. I think I read somewhere that the passat suspension or something is the same, not to sure on that one though

Dimensions are the same, but spring rates can be different for the front due to the heavier motor. I would imagine an A4 with a 2.8 would have the same weight distribution. Just make sure to verify the spring rates, if it's set up for a 1.8T you'll be enjoying extra squishy understear.

Pretty much the same Dave. There is a vin split for the S4 in MY 2000 at 8D-Y-080001, so make sure to get control arms, etc. after that VIN or from MY 2001.

If you have specific parts that need a lookup, PM me. Or you can take a look at ECS tuning and get the x-over compatibility by comparing the B5 S4 and B5 S4 in the part lookup.

You should be able to reuse your springs on a different sport strut (hopefully?).

If you're considering lowering the car then I'd strongly recommend adjustable control arms. You'll recoupe the added cost in reduced tire wear.

its already got h&r coilovers but the fronts are blown and i was looking at the raceland coilovers. i asked them about the a4 coils and they said that they are made for all motors that came in the b5 a4.

Golden  . When I was shopping for springs I found that some manufacturers had different rates, now I'm shopping for coilovers and adjustable arms to do it right.
