This car was sitting in a driveway in Helena for years, and I finally decided to go knock on the guys door and ask him about it. And a week later the car was mine. What was I waiting for? It was only $300 as it had a broken control arm and ball joint, which i readily fixed and then drove it away. Now a "special build" is quite a rare model. Only about 850 of these were sold in the US, and about 1600 were made altogether. This makes it more rare than the ur-quattro, though obviously not as desirable. The special build has rear disk brakes instead of drums, the rear spoiler and b pillars matched the body color, digital dash, and also an NG code 2.3 high compression I5, giving it 130 hp. All other coupes had 110 hp 2.2's. The car needs some lovin in the suspension department, but it runs real good for sitting as long as it did. And i need a hood, fender, headlight, and some other goodies (see my entry in audi classifieds) but it will be an awesome project. I have a line on 4000q tranny, driveline, and rear end and subframe so quattro here i come! Its gonna take a shit load of work to put that in there but I know it can be done. And i know where several 10v turbo engines are too. This car came with three sets of the wheels you see on it, new struts (not on it), and a whole box of random switches, relays, and other random stuff.

I really love these forums and I can't wait to show you all my evil plans for this coupe. I wish i could find 20v turbo I5 but they are next to impossible to find. There's one on ebay now for 1900, but also there is a complete 91 200 20vt for sale here in butte for 2500. But i'm gonna go the cheaper route for now with the good ol' 10vt.

Cool!! Thanks a bunch. I did a little more in depth research on the quattro conversion and you have to cut out half the floor pan from the 4000q, and you need literally everything from else too. So it looks like I'm gonna need a whole car.
