Anybody know where I can get a good deal for some new tires? I need to buy some summer tires for my car because my old ones have almost no tread and I'm rolling around on my winter ones right now.

I have been really happy with the Kumho MX, which are pretty reasonably priced. I am on my second set.
I order from the TireRack and then have the tires mounted locally.
I suggest you call around to see what the local shops will charge for either buying tires mounted from them, or what they charge to mount and balance. Usually you can get a better tire for less ordering from Tire Rack, paying for shipping and paying for mount and balance. Just don't go to Tire Rama at the mall, they charge out the arse for mounting tires purchased from Tire Rack.

Also, you can try www.discounttiredirect.com I just recieved my set of Falken Ziex ZE-512 today. They do not charge for shipping. I got the tires in a 185/60/14 for the GTi and they were 42.25 each shipped. I also got my Azenis RT-615s from them for autocrossing also They were $74 each shipped. they have crazy cheap tires. I have been buying tires from DT since 97, and have never been let down. My suggestion is make friends with someone who works at a tire shop. I personally do not like Les Schwab, and I try not to buy tires from them, but I have a buddy that works there and mounts 'up for free for me. I also have a set of Yokohama AVS ES100s on my Jetta and I love those. Bought those at Schwab, though.

I have the Yokohama AVS ES100s on my S4... great summer tire at a decent price! Sure glad I did not have my tires switched out to summers after driving around in yesterday's snow!

Hey Joe (or anyone else with experience), I know you are happy with the Kumho MX tires, but have you tried or heard any impressions with the Falken Azenis RT-615? I think im going to pick up a set of these if I get new wheels, I hear good things about them.

I run the 615s on my GTI for autocrossing, and I really like them. I don't run them on the street, so I can't give you an everyday experience, but for the money, you can't beat them on the track. I got mine from www.discounttiredirect.com for $74.00 each shipped. I also run the Falken Ziex ZE-512 on the GTI on the street everyday. The are a really great tire for the money also. I think they now have the 912 out also, which may make the 512 drop in price. My 512s were $47 each shipped.
