Guess what, my timing belt lost some teeth. Car died and I towed it home. :crybaby:

1.8T is an interference engine correct? :banghead:

Ouch.

Yes to interference. Minimal work would be a head rebuild. Think you are up to it?

Yikes, I was afraid of that. You know I'm not entirely sure, I would lean towards no haha. Those valves probably need replaced too huh? Maybe even rods :/ I have a buddy from work that said he would help but he doesn't know anything about VW's, more of a diesel guy. Said it probably required special tools. But probably for a shop to do I'm looking at a few thousand $$ aren't I? Things were going so good too. I think I was more upset that on the tow truck I lost my euro plate lol I guess I have to look at my options here. I knew I should of replaced that belt too, 89k.

Yep, whole head including valves etc. at least. The pistons may be salvageable if they aren't dented or punched through.

Pull the head, take it to a shop for a rebuild and hope it's not toast. Replace all the TB bits and tensioners and it should be good. But yeah it would take a bit of time and at least the special triple square to pull the head, and torque the new bolts.

If you don't want to hassle with it, send me a PM.

I'm almost considering letting it sit for 3 months, saving every nickel and dime I can save and finishing this car. I can't quite part with it yet. That's my baby girl. Maybe BT it. I guess mine as well. At least a K04.

First step: Buy a Bentley. Go from there, I guess.

Contact Peter at Bozeman Audi if you want price for the head replacement. They can also help you with KO4 options. It's always cheaper to do it yourself. Depends on skill and time of course. Tell him Ryan with the S4 sent you and he can give you a starting point for costs and options.

Yeah I will! Thanks. I have easy access to a car trailer so I'm gonna load it up and take it back to MT I think. It's not really that I don't trust myself to do its lack of time, tools and space to do it in. Hopefully it won't take too long to scrape my pennies along and get it done.

I have one thought as of right now. I guess I've never had ANY work done at a dealership. I'm considering an AEB head but I don't know if a dealership would even want to deal with that. From what I understand all 1.8 heads are interchangeable(yes I know the AEB would also need an intake manifold). But I don't know if they would do the swap and warranty it. Also from what I read is the max power for a stock 1.8 is about 270hp. Then it is recommended you change your rods for any higher power. I'm not looking for any insane amount of power. I don't think I even want to run a BT. I've been leaning towards an F23 and pushing it to the limit.

Main questions:

Do dealerships do any performance modifications? Or would I actually have to find a performance shop?
Are rods the only thing I would need to change for a little over 300hp? Maybe more...

It's kind of hit and miss for dealers to do mods like that from what I have heard. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

They are doing some good work for Ramrod on his S4.
