Ski Wagon: C5 A6 Avant

So, after foolishly selling my truck this summer thinking my current work situation was stable for a few years, and my ongoing S4 build I really don't have a daily driver anymore. So I picked up this 2000 A6 Avant 2.8 in Missoula. I have to make arrangements to pick it up this week. It's unmollested with very little wear, and only 105k miles. Just needs a TB job ASAP, and a set of all season tires.

Was that the one on CL that I sent you the link for? Or is that the one at All American Auto? Or are they both the same car? Either way nice score! First thing I would do is tint it but that's just me.

This is the one from All American Auto. I never did get a response to my email on the other one. It had the dark brown/burgundy interior and was a 99. This is the standard tan on tan. This one had a few less miles anyway. I'll have my buddy tint it when he comes back for the holidays. It's good to know a tinting guru who works for beer. Will probably only go 25 or 30% this time rather than my usual 20%. Ordered a timing belt kit, and had my old S4 Avus wheels mounted with all season rubber. Only thing left is a roof rack and a rocket box for my skis and it'll be ready for duty.

Sweet rig. Is there a 5 speed behind the 2.8?

Manual wasn't an option (not converting it), and this car will likely see a lot of in town duty for work so an auto will work. Any desire to row or go fast can be satified by it's stable partner. I don't want to turn this one into a project, just let it be what it is and maintain it.

Ordered a TB kit from ECS and some new bulbs for the xenon's so I can see at night again. Threw some all seasons on my old Avus wheels and have been rallying the granny wagon around in the snow. I even got asked if suddenly have children I haven't told my friends about. They can scratch their heads all they want this thing is frickin sweet to drive.

Finally got it home.

Swapped my stock S4 wheels on it, note these are the same wheels that came on the C5 S6. Honestly I like the stockers too. It's a toss up.

In it's natural habitat. Who likes hand brake turns and 4 wheel drifting? <This guy!
