So here's the deal everyone knows the weather in Montana. I have a friend with a Mk4 Jetta that wouldn't start this morning do to a weak battery. He got out shut the door and didn't lock it. He went out a little later in the day to give it another try. The issue is now that he has shut the doors is that he can't get the doors to open. Fob doesn't work nor does the key in the door. So did the security system lock him out or is there another issue that it may be. Ring out guys and thanks.

1- i still have your bentleys..... didnt say anything on it...
2- I had a kind of similiar problem, but the key worked. Its the comfort control module. had to get a new one. not very cheap :(.
3- this cold doesnt help anything electronic. so hopefully a new battery will fix the problem.
4- Non of my jibber jabber is of any help. sorry.

Bentlys are at the shop. I'll get them tomorrow. Oh wait Jurgen you have them lol. I'm going to swing by his place tomorrow. If the trunk opens I can get the back seat down. So at least we can pop the hood and charge the battery to see of that helps.

sounds like a frozen door lock/latch mechanism, no reason the key shouldnt work, unless the linkage failed inside.

Tried to send you a txt, but something is up with the 4G out here.

Battery is so weak it doesn't have the power to unlock the doors. Catch 22 on opening the door -> hood to charge the battery.

The key should open the door though....I bet Brandon is right - the door lock is frozen. Maybe some silicone spray in the mechanism would help free it up.

If you can get through the trunk, you could at least open the back doors.
