So I am putting the bug up for sale. I have a 1966 Bug. Its all complete sheet metal and has a good vintage patina with matching roof rack. There is some minor body rust but no cancer. the pans are solid. It is lowered. The list of what has been done to it:
Chassis
-All new wiring(converted to 12V)
-New door seals
-New stereo, JVC media receiver(no disk player) 5 1/2” pioneers in front kick panels, 6X9” pioneers in the rear, one 8” sub with amp
-I installed good used original German speedometer, fuel gauge, steering box, starter
-New battery
-New rear shocks
-4” narrowed adjustable front beam with 2 1/2” drop spindles(makes for a 3” narrow, spindles at 1/2” per side)
-New steering dampener
-I had all new aftermarket ball joints and tie rod ends put in but the rubber seals have split, they are still tight however.
-All new brakes, converted to dual circuit master cylinder
-New front wheel bearings
-Interior was reupholstered some time before I bought it with exception of the headliner, which is in fair shape.
-Rebuilt the windshield wiper assembly
-New aftermarket turn signal switch assembly
-Fuel tank was cleaned and sealed
-Just installed a good original steering box that is nice and tight and has some room for adjustment still
Tranny
-The tranny has a new nose cone and shift fork, shifter bushing, mounts, axle bearings and seals (it does leak and has had a clunk but still shifts fine)
-New clutch and throw out bearing
-New clutch cable
Engine
-Rebuilt 1600 single port
-Used case(so it leaks a little or marks it territory as air-cooled guys say) line bored .020 over)
-It has a DPR counter weight crank, and matching balanced lightweight flywheel
-Rods and pistons are balanced
-Rebuilt single port heads from Bug Patch
-Scat C35 mild torque cam with new lightweight lifters
-Full flow oil pump with filter
-Rebuilt and jetted Solex 30/31 Pict 3 carb
-009 Bosch distributor with electronic ignition
-New cap, rotor, wires and plugs.
-External fan powered oil cooler
-Aluminum stock sized sand seal pulley
-Trimil Hotdog twin tipped exhaust, with heater boxes(only one heater box is hooked up, the oil cooler in the way of the ducting, but the working one will still heat up the cabin)
-It has an aftermarket Cooling shroud, But other than that the air cooling system is stock, working and complete. It has all the rest of the shrouds in place, working thermostat and flaps, and a sealed engine compartment.
I’m sure that I’m missing some stuff. It runs great and drives well. I've been having fun driving it this year. I'm asking $3700 OBO. (619)347-5535. I'm selling it because I need the space and have to many other things going on right now. here is a link to the build:
