I have one I inherited - I'd have to get the model # from it, but I think it's from an MKV TDI. Missing 5th gear, and I was told has a slight 2nd-3rd gear grind (typical). Appears to work OK, but needs some TLC. Interested?

Just looking for a turn-key gearbox.
Not sure what I was thinking with the VR gears in the GLI. There is a huge gap between 2nd and 3rd. That, and the cruise works in 1st through 4th but not 5th because its out of an acceptable RPM/VSS to the ECU. I also would like an upgraded differential as power wants to hop between wheels in a straight line at full boost. Takes two hands on the wheel

Gotcha! Just throwing it out there, we never know what you are up to
So if you are looking for a turnkey trans, then you want an 02J? Basically anything out of an MKIV Jetta/Golf/Beetle 1.8T or 2.0 (not VR6 or TDI).

There may be something in one of the Billings junkyards.

Six fiddy! Good Lawd! I aint give that monsta no god damn Six fiddy!
I'll have to check out that CL gearbox. My last one came from the junk yard in Billings. Don't think I want to pay much more than a few hundred for a 5speed unless its already got an LSD.

Why not just buy a new one from VW? You should be able to get a new one for around $1500. I dunno, I've been down the crap used transmission road. Ended up costing me more than if I just bought a new one and put an LSD in it.
