I parked in my car when all of a sudden my car starts shaking. It dropped from an idle 1k rpms to 800 back to 1k and then to 500rpms and It just kept doing that. any one know whats wrong? I'm afraid to drive it, in fear that its the timing belt. My car is only at 54k miles. Help!

Sounds like an air leak or dying O2/MAF/Temp sensor to me.

On second thought, it wouldn't run at all with a bad CP. I would check for vacuum leaks. Or engine gremlin. Those little guys suck.

If one of your coilpacks was cracked the spark would arc and your car would run like that. If it were an O2 or MAF your car would still run fine, but gas mileage would suck and you would lose power at certain speeds (i.e. WOT).
It's not your t-belt.
Are you getting a CEL? If so you need to get it scanned. If not, you still need to get it scanned, because it may have stored codes.

Yeah definitely getting a CEL.... I have to have my car to A&D by tomorrow morning for some body work. Should I have it towed? I did a little research and saw that coil packs fail a lot and that audi is replacing them for free? Has anyone else heard about that?
