Is there something special with the B5 and the mount? Or did you get new mounts?JayRyan wrote:Without a lift, anybody got any tips or want to help?
No, nothing special. I've just had this odd, "clunking" now for several months that's progressively gotten worse. I'm suspecting it's the tranny mount. I don't know the best way to test it short of a crowbar on a lift.MikeWire wrote:Is there something special with the B5 and the mount? It clunks when I stop, start (I can directly affect the clunking with braking), going over bumps and occasionally shifting.Roadhog wrote:try and shake the engine, see how much it moves...
or.. open the hood, put it in gear, and hit the brake and gas at the same time, see if the engine tries to jump out.or clunks when you tap the gas.
could very well be a trans or motor mount.JayRyan wrote:It clunks when I stop, start (I can directly affect the clunking with braking), going over bumps and occasionally shifting.Roadhog wrote:try and shake the engine, see how much it moves...

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's the driver's side motor mount. I've started to notice a real light belt-chirping occasionally depending on the angle the car's at...Roadhog wrote:could very well be a trans or motor mount.JayRyan wrote:It clunks when I stop, start (I can directly affect the clunking with braking), going over bumps and occasionally shifting.Roadhog wrote:try and shake the engine, see how much it moves...
