Thought I ran across something about this on TDIclub while researching my radiator fans.

It does sound like a stuck compressor clutch, I'll see if I can find the link that I thought I read...helpful, I know.

So, it's like consistently 90-100° down here in SL, UT (salt lake). I noticed that only one of my radiator fans ever seems to spin up...at least that is what I'm assuming. Ok, so anyone want to give me a brief rundown on the breaking system of mkiv's? Basicly, I have 3 out of 4 disc's that show wear from breaking action...i assume all 4 are used by the abs system.
