So nobody is bringing up the highly popular topic of running B100/B80/B50/B20?? Anyone know of any BD pumps in MT?

-I thought it was a commercial only station, but someone informed me that you can pay with credit card. I checked it out and you can private purchase it.
-It doesn't tell you how much it is until after you swipe your card, but if you're unhappy with the price you can always cancel the transaction.
-Also, the pump doesn't tell you how much you've spent, just how many gallons you've put in. A pain for those who don't fill their cars up all the way but spend a specific amount at each fillup.

I have to admit that I am not so knowledgeable in the whole diesel/biodiesel realm. Are you able to just put biodiesel in the tank and that's it, or are you required to change some parts in the puel system?

as far as i know, you just put biodiesel in the fuel system and it runs just fine -- with vegetable oil you have to put an activator in it before you can run it. but even then its only 85 cents a gallon ...

I believe Biodeisel will run on stock, but my buddy has a vegetable oil powered Jetta here in town. It's a slick conversion kit, it starts and shuts down on diesel, but once the engine is warm the coolant is piped down the vegetable line to keep the oil nice and liquid. Then you just switch it over to the vegetable line, and you never know the difference. I'll give him a call and see if he'll bring it down to coffee.

Here in Missoula, you can get B85 at some of the Cenex stations, and my wife runs it in her F-250, and it usually results in her getting 20 mpg vs. 18 mpg on regular diesel. As far as I know, Ford doesn't call for any mods to use biodiesel, but when you start using it, you need to change fuel filters, since it does tend to clean all the sludge out of your tank and move it to your fuel filter. The moment my Rabbit is on the road, that's all it will be running on, until someone starts selling higher content BioDiesel. Up until I bought this car, I paid more attention to the big trucks, and I know a few people who run F-250's that are getting 24 mpg on the 50/50 stuff, and that's a big jump, but it drops off to 25 mpg on straight biodiesel, so the cost probably isn't worth the benefit. As a footnote, her truck seems much happier pulling her 10,000 lb trailer when she's running the B85 than it does running straight diesel.
