Change in Rides

Post by bigmontana »

Well I had to do something I really did not want to a couple of weeks ago.
I sold my red GLI. I thought long and hard about it and weighed my options. It came down to the cost it would be to fix it and not having the money to selling it and putting that money towards a new car.
So I sold it and bought a newer Jetta. I wanted to appologize to you guys on here that wanted to buy it but this deal sort of fell into my lap and I had to do it, I wish I could have afforded to do both but I could not. I miss my GLI but I still have my 89 Wolfsburg and I will redo that at some time when my Bug is done.

Here are some pictures from the day before I sold it.

Like I said previously, I bought a newer Jetta, I bought an 01 Jetta GLS VR6 Wagon, I love it but unlike my GLi I have some stuff I need to modify it so I'll be asking your guys opinions if that is OK. I love having the room of the wagon and I like that it is reliable. It is a big difference going from a 90 to an 01. One of the best things though is that there is zero rust. I love that I don't have to worry about redoing the dumb body work, I'll have enough of that on my 89 Jetta.

Here are pics of the new ride.

Right now it is stock.

Future mods, I'm tinting the windows this week, I really got used to them on the GLI and now I hate that I don't have them. I'm putting my stubby antenna on it as soon as I get it from Mike. I'm putting on a bigger BigskyVW sticker on it as soon as I get it. I want to lower it a little bit and chip, but that is down the road, first I want to find 18 inch wheels for it and that is about it for now until I have the money. I want to do a different headlight system, and I different exhaust and some mellow mods. Any ideas? I have spent so many years researching MK II mods that I don't really know much about MKIV mods and sights to go two.

I will miss my GLI but I will alwayts have my Wolfsburg and so I will be able to make that really cool some day.

Hope you guys understand, I know some might be pissed but it is what is right for me.

Sorry to see your GLI go, hope it went to a good worthy home!!!

I friggin LOVE you wagon though! I have always wanted a wagon but when I came across my Golf it was just too good of a deal to pass up.

So "if" it were mine, i'd do a Getta front end conversion! Put a Golf nose on that thing! :unibrow:
Also do staggered wheels on it!
How are you lowering it?
HID conversion
Also with the longer wheel base i'd assume that when cornering theres a little more twist to the body so i'd run front strut bar and rear tie bars.
Can't wait to see this thing start coming together!

Wow, when you said newer, you meant it!

Also, did also those stickers come pre-installed, or are you just a sticker whore?

Thanks guys, I have a small collection of Montana stickers that I put on all of my cars, but it is dwindling. I need more, I figurted I'd rock the whole Montana pride thing since I can't live there I'll be a part of it in spirit. I never thought of a Golf Front end that would be cool, would it fit and where would I find one. How much is an HID headlight conversion? I'm not sure what sort of suspension to get yet, that is down the road.

Yeah it is quite a bit newer. But I love it. By the way what is the consensus on going badgless on the rear hatch, I have been thinking about it but not sure yet.

Post up in the Vortex MK4 classifieds that your looking for a Reflex Silver front end swap. It's a fairly common swap and there are almost always people on there looking for people to swap with. The front ends swap perfectly.
Also look through the classifieds there for parts for your new ride. I seriously bought everything for my Golf on there at huge discounts. There are always great deals on there.

Oh yeah, I paid I think $130 for my HID conversion set of H7 bulbs and ballasts.
It's seriously the best $130 I have EVER spent on any of my vehichles EVER!!!
I'll try to find a link to the place I ordered them from.

Yeah I'd appreciate that, I will do the new headlights and I want to do the golf conversion. Do I look in the regular MKIV forum or under the classifieds for the front end and is it the bumper grill or what all comes with the front end.
