I'll go wherever, I'm not picky. Keep in mind that OF and Canyon are about the only places for lunch for a group our size. Also, you want to avoid buying fuel in the park, so plan accordingly at West or Gardiner.

Stones, text me what you need me to brind for the BBQ.

I think everyone should fill up in Gateway Then top it off in West if possible.

Route?

Post by 1FUN S8 »

So is the route finalized? I'm going to take the roads we miss on the Big Sky Cruise on my way up to Bozeman, just to check out as much of the park as possible. Doesn't matter to me which I hit when, I'd just like to avoid duplication if possible.

My opinion concerning the final route:

Major kudos to all you guys who have helped plan the GTG - Stoney, Joe and others. But, I'm concerned that the new last minute route change would give us very little time in the park, and I'm not sure why the route was changed. The new loop is 77miles in the park = ~2 hours drive time, which is not very much time. And the new route misses all of the major attractions like OF and canyon/falls. I would be afraid of snow also up by tower, because i know Beartooth still has like 11' of snow, and the passes my be questionable, and we won't know until we get there.

I'm not racing the clock on this run, so I'm not concerned with time. Others may be, but I am getting almost no feedback. If we have ~20 cars going, only a couple of days left, but no feedback...that worries me.

Am I missing something here? If so, someone please explain.

I almost have to agree with Mike as that this thing has been planned for months now with a set itenery that everyone agreed to. Not sure why the changes at the end here but he is right about trying to make last minute changes to something that everyone had previously agreed upon.
I have been to the park several times and seen it's attractions. Like I said a couple of posts ago, I am in this trip to drive my dub and meet everyone.
Just hate to see things get confusing at the last minute.
Just my 2 cents!

I'm happy to avoid snowy/icy/frozen roads if it doesn't detract from everyone else's fun. These things are like hockey pucks on ice. Not having gone b4, I'm not sure how well the roads are maintained/cleared of snow and ice within the park.
