GLI question

Post by joeleoso »

Did they make any GLIs with the dual tip exhaust? I thought that they just had the single tip coming out the rear valence. I ask because I saw one with a GLI badge and the dual tip exhaust, so either they changed exhaust and rear valence or someone just put a badge on it?

The real GLis came with one outlet, and it was a rolled exhust tip. Did you see one that has twin tips right next to each other, or was is a "dual" that had tips on each side of the car? The GLI had a completely different rear valence and tip from the non-GLIs

It was a dual tip like the 04 and later style. I only ask because there are people in Great Falls dumb enough to stick a GLI badge on like a 2.0.

I don't get that, I mean the people who know VWs will know it is wrong, unless they are trying to be funny.

That would be a 180 hp Jetta, same motor as the GLI, but the exhaust has different tips

well depends on what year the car is...
a 2004 GLI and a 2004.5 GLI are quite different...

2004 GLI
VR6 engine
02m 6speed tranny (i think...)
essentially stock exterior
GLI interior trim package
i'm pretty sure on most of this anyways...

2004.5-2005 GLI
1.8t awp engine (180bhp)
02m 6speed tranny
GLI lip kit
GLI head/tail lights
BBS RC 18" rims
GLI interior trim package
2005 VW GLI - pretty much stock. for now...

hmmm...I wonder if you are talking about my jetta! I live in Great Falls and have a 2001 1.8t wolfsburg edition that is red and has dual tips and a GLI Badge on it with a black grill. Sound Familiar maybe? As of right now I have a single tip because I bought a new turboback exhaust system and wanted to see what their tip looked like. Well I hate it so I am moving back to a different dual tip, I'll post pics when I'm done
