Passenger Seat is broken!!

Post by Dubber »

Hey guys - My girlfriend accidently slammed my seat down a little too hard the other day, and it broke - now it wont lock in at all when i try to set it down. I am not sure if you all have the same type of seats so ill explain it a bit.

You can pull the seat up and forward so that someone can enter the rear without having to be a midget...
there is a locking mechanism that sits on the bottom of the seat which locks the seat back into the rail so you can sit on it. It no longer sits on the rail, it pops up and slams my dash when i brake. (very annoying)
In any case - the real question is does anyone have any experience with this?? how can i fix it?
I think i want to get a whole other seat locking mechanism does anyone know where i can buy that? i could not find it on ECS or German Auto Parts.com - who knows maybe i am blind...

In anycase - i am going to try the junk yards around here next- its really annoying me. id like to stay away from dana, but i might as well call them just to check the prices...

any info would be great - if photos would help i can shoot some and show you what i mean

Thanks

It's hard to tell what could be going on without seeing it, but I would suspect that the locking mechanism is bent, broken or got pushed too far out of place and is stuck. Pictures would help - the diagrams in the repair manual stink. If you can snap a couple of the locking part on the seat and on the base of the seat I think we will be able to tell what's going on. Or you could wait until next week - lunch GTG - although I won't have any tools with me.

there are a few torx screws to take off the track covers then slide seat all the way back remove 2 13mm screws from under the front seat, slide seat back lift up front of seat and un-plug connectors, dont worry about the airbags.
