no doubt. I had lines scratched into the oil pan and had even ground off a tiny bit of the drain plug!

I checked into these skid plates...
I think the alloy ones are the way to go like you show above.
Most of the time it is the drain plug that catches and gets ripped off.
The lighter weight alloy ones are going to work just fine for this.
That one is called a DG Panzer model & I couldn't find a supplier that carried back to MKIII...?

I did find an Evolution Odin skid plate (alloy) for MKIII Jetta & Golf

No... I didn't notice the video... Thanks... just watched it.
That's a Golf lowered 2" running around "Montana" style. Convinced me to get one.
You can't say they don't test their products. ouch!
