Is it normal for the clutch to be stiff on these models? I bought it used (I'm the 3rd owner).
The service center told me that I have to replace the clutch assembly to fix the "stiffness" but I am looking for an alternative solution.
Please help.

If i were you i would go get your brake fluid flushed and put new better brake fluid in, i just did this, and it makes a world of difference!!

How many miles on the car? You may look at replacing the master and/or slave cylinder if it's really bad. And like Dubber said just a change in fluid can make a big difference - FYI the clutch uses brake fluid.
