I saw an RS6 downtown a couple days ago.
Really subtle package for a Lambo V10. It was parked so I didn't get to hear it. :(

Just to clarify, the RS6 is a biturbo V8 (yay for boost), the new S6 will have the V10 that is in the new S8 and upcoming second year R8. There are a couple RS6's in town, amazing road cars to cruise in. One of my favorite Audi's ever.

Ah, ok. So that must have been an S6 I saw downtown. That would explain the extreme subtleness.
So, is the 'next' RS6 going to be a hotter V10?

The new S6's are really suble. I haven't seen one in person, I'll keep an eye out. I'm not a big fan from the pictures, hopefully seeing it in person will be better. The give away to it being special is the LED running lights in the bumper.

As far as a future RS6, I haven't heard of any plans to make one. The "R" cars aren't ongoing models, as much as they are exercises in factory tuning to add excitement to the brand. My guess is with the S8 using the same engine, they won't create an RS6 for a while so it won't dethrone the S8 as the top dog. My hope is that new A5/S5 coupe that is based on the A6 structure, will be reworked as an RS5. A high performance coupe that could run with the BMW M6 would be new territory for Audi, help to broaden the brand, and create excitement.

More on the A5:

http://www.audiworld.com/news/07/a5-photos-leaked/

I was mistaken, it will be based on the new B8 platform. I'm liking the interior. I'm curious at to the curb weight, it better be a lot lighter than the sedan if they expect the S5 with the current S4 V8 to compete with the next generation M3. I have dreams of a biturbo V8 RS5 and sugar plums dancing in my head.
