1999 Audi A4 Quattro Stereo wiring question
Hey, im planning on installing a 1500 watt amp, capacitor, and eclipse sub in a friends audi a4...and i was wondering if there are any special wires? because i know they have the theft lock head unit and i was wondering if there is a brain somewhere in the wiring you have to bypass? or if it is as simple as speakers, ignition, ground, and constant, audio cables and amp turn on? Let me know asap, thanks guys.

Does it have the Bose stereo? If so the you probably need to bypass the factory amp. The rest I am useless with.

Re: 1999 Audi A4 Quattro Stereo wiring question
If you use a hi/lo converter, you can get signal from the out of the factory amp, and not have to take the headunit out at all. You will also need a 4 Ga. amp kit to run the efficiently. You will have to do some research on which wire you will need, but the fact. amp should be in the trunk somewhere, check under the rear deck lid, and work from there.
Factory rear speaker outputs-->hi/lo converter-->RCAs-->new amplifier
Battery under hood-->4 Ga. wiring-->fuse within 18 inches of battery(leave fuse out until all connections made)-->Run 4Ga. through grommet in firewall--->positive side of cap-->positive side of cap to positive on amp.
Ground out of amp-->neg side of cap-->good paint free ground on car somewhere
Once all connections are made take an H3 bulb(or if the cap came with a resisitor use that) and touch the pos side of bulb (long wire)to one side of the fuse holder, and then the flange of the bulb(neg side) to the other post on the fuse hlder, the light will light up and slowly get dim. Your cap is now charged, and you can remove the bulb and install the fuse.
You are now ready to tune it and pound it down the backstreets........
