top gear just had a "race" with the blue motion 3cyl TDI and it averaged like 73mpg, is was hittin like 80-83 at its peak efficiency. drove from the southern coast of france to the northern coast of england, on one tank of diesel....!!!!!!!!!!! and why cant we have it!!!!!!

You're right, why do they continue to feel that we aren't ready for such a car? We don't have those types of cars because the options for them are so limited and those we do have are not worth the money. or they are too expensive.
I wonder what there other reasons for not coming over here with that model is? I am sure there are more.

I guess they feel that they don't have a vehicle in the sub-compact car platform for the US market, and this will fill the void. It would be great to have the Polo in the US, but why make it smaller, and basically a sub-compact? And, most importantly, no diesel?
If they bring the Polo to the US they will effectively just give us another Golf, so besides making it smaller, what could they do with the Polo that couldn't be done with the Golf/GTI...?
