Bigger breaker is the same as a penny. Fire is bad :( Volkswagens dont like fire........

Thanks for that build thread Brandon. Its a long one... lots of interesting ideas.

Well I have been picking away at a lot of prep work in my spare time.
Learned to use the MIG and used it on the truck to get the front subframe mounting points ready.
Yestarday I got a few hours in the morning to prep the strut towers for the MKIII mod. Twas a little cold out there. Today I measured everything again and went for the first fitting.
I lifted the Caddy front end, rolled the whole shabang out of the garage with a pallet jack and eased everything into place. I got the MKIII works in good position and leveled out. There is not very much room in there after getting it into place, but there is enough. I'm glad I took the time to prep and add some wiggle room etc. I have to lower the body about another 2 inches to max out the depth on the middle subframe mounting points. Looks like I will be able to max the depth like I want and still get the hood to clear.
Here are some pictures.

Even put the Jetta jack to good use.

This last picture shows the middle subframe monting point and the A-arm studs I will use to get subframe centered and aligned. I will use a 30" long piece of metal to span the 4 A-arm studs to get centered and perpendicular on the body. The subframe mid mount will get fabbed into this jig after I center the front wheel wells to find the distance from studs to mid mount centers. This will be the most critical part of the project.
After that, I can go to work and have some fun with the MIG.

Let me know if you'd like a hand with some of the electronics, I have a working VAG-COM now too.

Have you looked into reducing the motor mounts?
