ISO: '97-'01 Ford Explorer V8 - for parts

Post by DynoJetta »

If anyone knows of one, let me know. Must be a 5.0L V8, and must be '97-'01. It doesn't have to be running, mileage irrelevant, body condition irrelevant (just no engine damage). The cheaper the better!

Thanks

Yeah, I know, it's a dirty shame too! GT40 intake and heads, down the crapper! I don't know what they're doing to the engines, but I'm hoping the heads and intakes will still be salvageable. Keeping my eyes open :ninja:

They drain the oil, and put sodium-silicate in the engine and run it till it seizes.

The dealers had to put some sort of chemical in the fuel tanks and run them until they siezed. They were them picked up by a local junkyard, where the engines are removed and scrapped and the rest of the cars are sent to the salvage yard. This is what the government calls "recycling" I heard that from a buddy that works for Dave Smith Motors, who I have heard is owed like 1.3 million by the government on this cash for clunkers stuff and has yet to see a dime. Well that was a few weeks ago, so maybe they have gotten some checks by now.....

Yeah, well if anyone knows of any around, please let me know soon. Otherwise, I'm just going to have to go with the one engine I know of at the salvage yard. Thanks for the input guys. I know a mechanic that is PO'd because there are now 700,000 less vehicles on the road that will never need maintenance again. And the funny thing is, he told me most of them are Ford Explorers! Talk about the irony...

Yeah, not only are mechanics feeling the backlash of Cash for Clunkers, so are the salvage yards.

I think it's rediculous that they are taking perfectly good running vehichles and destroying them. Think of how many people there are out there that can't even afford resonable transportation. What a friggin waste of usable equipment all to meet the "green" agenda!!!

First they want to take our guns and melt them down, now cars????

You can have my vehichles when you take the keys from my cold dead hands!!! :finger:

Ok, back to OP, have you checked out Spaldings in Spokane?
