SO. Today, I drove the car .. ALOT.
Picked it up from josh's house at around... 4:30.
It looks awesome.
Absolutely awesome. Its sad, that even though i took my car to a "reputable" mechanic. This is the first time i was entirely happy to get it back. Because i did not have to say, hmm, well that part was done well, but that other part was shitty.
Nothing like that, It was all put together very very well, and it runs like a dream. The car is boosting effortlessly and its faster than i have ever seen.
its smooth and the IAT are COLD!
At idle the IAT (intake Air temperature) is around 41-50. When i am driving the car at roughly 50 miles an hour, It drops all the way down to 35. It is crazy how much the intercooler changes the temperature of the IAT vs the SMIC.
just simply unreal.
Again, Huge thanks to Josh, for actually caring about the project he was working on and putting in, rather than looking at it like a paycheck that he was interested in getting.

Grant came by the house last night to pick up some stuff (by the way, I have the key for that case G). He took me out to hear a whistle/whine that wasn't his turbo (hole in a short piece of IC silicone pipe on the exhaust end).

Anyway, Grant's car now sounds and drives like a normal GTI- well, a normal GTI with a whole lotta balls  It's amazing the difference. I can't pick on him any more for a car that seems to have a bunch of issues- they're all gone! :unibrow:

This is one of the reason I  V-dubs and their owners!!!

They care about other dubbers rides, not just their own!!!

Since this has pretty much become my cars personal thread =) i figured i would ask the question i am currently having...
So, The car is running great - faster than hell, as expected, the clutch is starting to show signs of going out - at least i hope its the clutch =)
What happens is, well, specifically third gear is a pain in the ass. If i am anywhere about 3 thousand RPMS when i try to shift into third, just no luck, it won't go.
So, once i keep the clutch in for a bit, it will go in smooth as butter.
This is my clutch right??

If so - is this clutch a good replacement??

Or what about this??

If you have trouble getting into third, you may just need to adjust your shift linkage.

I wouldn't go for a clutch kit just yet - when you feel it slipping and the RPM's jump up it's time for a new clutch. I would suspect your master or slave cylinder first. Probably the slave cylinder may be sticking or not pushing the disc away from the flywheel fast enough. IIRC your clutch pedal feels like poop and is kinda sticky - I would start there.

If you absolutely need a new clutch...for the amount of HP/TQ you are putting out (less than 300ft/lb) I would go with the first link. The SPEC stage1 is rated just 5ft/lb higher, and it's quite a bit more. I don't know if the pressure plate is beefed up, or if the clutch disc is that much better than the OEM VR6 - it's probably relabeled OEM stuff.

I ran the VR6 clutch kit in my Jetta and it was a nice upgrade.

Sounds like third gear syncro is worn out. Usually happens pretty quickly if you power shift from 2nd to 3rd very often.
