Re: StaggeredMK4's MKI GTI Teardown & Build Thread......
Hey Brandon,
When I grind down that rod do I need to take out the bolt or grind down with it too?
It doesn't appear as if the actual bolt made contact with the IM shaft gear but just wanting to make sure before doing it.
Thanks

Thanks Brandon!
I got it ground down today!
Block and head are getting sent to Advanced Engines in Helena on Wednesday to get checked over and any work done that's needed.

Glad to hear that Jim will be able to help you out! The guy can build some engines. Have you even seen our 1000 hp Camaro? He built that motor.

Re: StaggeredMK4's MKI GTI Teardown & Build Thread......
Ok, so some semi updates......
Got her out of the garage a few days ago so I could clean the garage to a point that I could acutally have some real working room.....

Got the tranny semi cleaned up. Will probably paint it after I get it cleaned up the rest of the way.....

OMG I
wheel dollies!!! Going to make things so much easier in the garage!

Got everything cleaned out of the rabbit. It has been a kind of storage bin the last couple of months! Time to finish stripping the interior!!!

I got the MKII dash all modified and fit properly. Had to do some cutting of the original brackets on the body to get her to fit but she's all snug up!

Got most of the floorboards finished as well. Just a little cleanup left there.

Still have alot left but finally getting some time after the baby to make some progress. I will have lots of stuff being delivered next week. Also today the block and head got shipped off to Advanced Engines in Helena to get checked over and any work that needs done. I need to start working on the wiring this weekend. I had previously ripped out all of the wiring as it was in sad shape. Was debating whether to just wire all the lighting etc myself or try to find a replacement harness. Any good aftermarket harness kits for a MKI that anyone knows of that won't kill my wallet?
I'll have more updates this weekend.

Nice dude! You did a way better job on the dash than I did with the truck.
It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.
Re: StaggeredMK4's MKI GTI Teardown & Build Thread......
don't pain the transmission. The case flexes ever so slightly, and it makes the paint flake off.
