Thoughts Of MKIV?

Post by path0s »

Possibly buying another GTI... but this time a 03 VR6 GTI, 85k for 9.2

Previous owner traded it in for an STI, took care of this car miracuously.

6 speed, no leaks, drilled rotors & exhaust.

Haven't talked to much to the dealer yet, but if you're talking about timing and such. I want to say... doubt it. :( But, as for everything else, it's been done by the looks of it.

Funny thing is, room mate will be driving this... while i'm in the MKV

Nice, but too much. And looks like it might have cheesy altezzas in the rear? Looks lowered, I'd get under there and see what's installed. Drop it a grand, and verify any maintenance with possible receipts and I would pull the trigger.

Well, it's at 9950, and we got it down to 9200. It does look lowered, but I haven't been able to really see if it's with coils or what. Haven't even opened the hood :(

Dealerships are picky when you first see something. But, the rear isn't altezzas, I've driven an altezza in japan, and nothing similar. Just LED's.

I'll be heading up there soon though to make sure of all maintenance, and actually check underneath. May take some pictures.

Well to give you perspective, I bought my '03 A4 for $8400 with 102k miles. It's a nice car, but I think you could go lower in price. Good luck, and remember you can (and should) always walk away once! Chances are they will call you back on it with a lower price.

Well, at first my girlfriend went to buy it... but one of her exes had a car repo'd in her name... so yea.

But, when I go up there, I want to talk them down to 9k flat if they don't have receipts for all work that is done to it.

Maybe even lower. I'll have to see, because there's not to big of a market for old MKIV, so it would probably never sell anyways.

^ Grant's GTI would be a solid buy IMO.

Posted on his thread. :) Just looking for a car VERY soon... but if he were to sell it soon, I wouldn't mind taking a trip to billings.
