GT2871r vs GT30
Okay, we all know the GT30 is all together a better turbo if you're going for a big turbo upgrade. But, in looking for a DD(but not wanting a K04) I'm aiming for the GT28... but I can't find a definite answer on when the GT28 is able to spool max psi... only thing i've found is 3500 RPM's, but they weren't reliable sources...
But all together, both turbos spool the same i'm told. And with a correct tune, it will stick with a K04 or 03 in low end, and just pull in top.
I'm aiming for maximum satisfaction!
But this is all in with the 2.0 MKV

if you go on youtube i know they have alot of vids of the ko4 vs gt28 S4. the gt28 pulls way harder. the rpm you mentioned is about right. all the tuning shops i've asked say the same thing. 034 recommends a built bottom end to maximize the upgrade. i was thinking of eventually going to the gt28 but the bottom end build, minus installation of turbos and supporting mods, is around 7-8k.

Yea for the kit it's roughly 2.5k, then FMIC(since i'm lazy and haven't gotten one yet), and then IE rods.
But I know the k03 peaks already around 2200 RPMS which is to much wheel spin for me...

ya, my ko4's with the 3" TB/no cats, starts spooling early but hits hard around 3500. i think you would be ok to run that boost pressure also but you may want to look into water/meth to keep yourself cool....plus its a nice bump in HP....

Re: GT2871r vs GT30
Yea, on my K03 I peak 2200... hold 20 until 5k? maybe more...
But, like my other posts about fluctuation, I peak at 24-25 psi. But when the 2871r is thrown on, i'll be getting an FMIC as well

Re: GT2871r vs GT30
sounds like alot on a ko3....a psi spike isnt a good thing. could just be something wrong with the wastegate. i would recommend getting the bottom end build asap after the upgrade. since that turbo can produce way more than the stock bottome end can handle. after you get it done you should make a trip out. we can see how a stg 3 s4 does against a gt28/30....and about the next GTG's i think the next big one is the YNP cruise through yellowstone. not sure

Eh, I won't have a GT28/30 until I travel back to Florida.

Re: GT2871r vs GT30
ah that sucks. i have heard some guys on the vortex who were running 25psi consistently on ko3's with no problems.

Re: GT2871r vs GT30
Yea I don't really have problems, it just fluctuates sometimes. See, it may peak at 25psi... But it doesn't hold, so it's nothing to really worry about. The only time it started peaking is when I lost my back pressure when I got my 3" turboback. Which was a huge difference in boost.
