door handle help
so about a month ago i put new door handles one my car because my old handles were all white and faded. but now i cant open my driver side door from the inside or the outside, but i can unlock it. this happened once before but i thioight it was because my door was frozen shut and i pulled to hard and broke it. im pretty sure that its not frozen its like something came apart and the latch wont open the door? any one else had this problem with aftermarket handles, or know how to fix it?

Re: door handle help
If it won't open from the inside or the outside then it sounds like the metal bar that attaches the handle to the release mechanism fell off.

Re: door handle help
Some times you might need to just push in on the door while trying to open it maybe?

Re: door handle help
The 'ol MK2 door trick doesn't work on the Mk3s, unfourtunately. I think you may have had a frozen door handle. I get them sometimes in the Touareg, and used to get them in the Mk3 also. Usually a warm day will fix it. You just want to be careful not to really reef on it, since you may actually break something...,.,

Re: door handle help
MK3? There's also some kind of adjusting screw on the door jam. I think there's three mounting screws that hold the lock assembly and then another smaller one that can be turned for adjustment.might have a rubber cap on it..... ?..?>?
My handle got worse and worse until it wasnt usable. i spun the screw a bit and adjustments made it work. except the inner one works a little worse. but still it fixed it.
hope this helps
