Re: Re: Project Alaska 2K
Yeah, one was just bad, threw it away, got sold another bad one, but it was rebuildable, so I ran amsoil mtg in it, that one was destroyed by the fluid. So I rebuilt it again, and ran oem fluid and it has lasted over twice as long as the others, and still going strong.MikeWire wrote:Aren't you on tranny #3?
If you compare the viscosity of oem vs a 75w90, you will find that the oem is like water compared to it.

you proved it was their fluid that destroyed it and they got you a new tranny. I hope so that would be sweet! hahaRoadhog wrote: so I ran amsoil mtg in it, that one was destroyed by the fluid.

Looks like we'll both be working on exhaust this weekend.

Re: Project Alaska 2K
Well, that was fairly easy to swap out. I put it in last night after work, finished up around 9:30 or so and took it for a spin. First off, it made a pretty big difference in the sound, it's much deeper and growly (like) and it seems to have a bit more pep. I got a little late last night, so I'm going to scan and clear codes tonight, and probably recheck all the nuts and bolts. And of course install my plate frame and stickers - gotta represent!

Re: Project Alaska 2K
Beth has been driving it daily for the last few months and it's been soild other than a couple of issues. I do have an oil leak somewhere I need to fix, I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific spot though. I ended up ordering a few more seals for the oil cooler and filter housing, but I'm not sure that's were it's coming from - either timing cover or it's the trans.MT-Getto wrote:Update please
If it's the transmission I have a feeling it may be leaking from the transmission output shaft seal, but I haven't found a source to buy the part from yet - probably the dealership (Brandon).
The lower coolant flange on the radiator has been leaking (slow drip) so I just ordered a new one.
For now I have just been throwing a piece of cardboard down in the garage - bad owner!
