Engine
ABA from a 97 Jetta GLS (obd2) stock
welded skid plate on oil pan
I did the easy swap with two fuse boxes to get it running. requires 5 wires IIRC
( I just needed it mobile)
Stock alternator as I did not have the proper pulleys to go with the serp set up
10w30 synthetic oil
Averaged 32 MPG on a 1200 mi trip
Cooling fan must be turn on manually.
The battery was relocated behind the drivers seat with a battery disconnect. ( it was the only option I had at the time. (winter with no garage)
Transmission
FN 5 speed.
Stock 1.6 clutch. just starting to slip. I drove it 1200 mi to and from MSP for EW with no probs. Just to hammer each gear. ( I can replace it if its a deal breaker)
Suspension
Racelands adjustable coil overs up front
3' drop plates in rear
Tires
Front: Toyo Extensa HP (1200 mi on them since new)
Rear: Hankook Ventus RS2 ( at wear bars)
Exhaust:
ABA stock Cat with both O2 sensors installed and a Cherry Bomb Vortex suitcase muffler. Sounds good. Nothing loud, but a distinct ABA sound.
Body
There is some in the inner fender wells. and rust along the driver side rockers. Floors may need replaced...or fixed. I am not sure.
The grill is in great shape. No cracks and all mounting hardware is intact
Slider rear window
flip up sun roof
I had the windshield replaced this summer with a new one from Safelite
NAPA gauge pod with mechanical oil psi, volts and water temp.
Paint was destroyed by the PO with a brush, I started to sand it down.
PO ruined dash with bedliner
Brakes
stock front (non vented)
rear drums
Overall, I would say this caddy is in pretty decent shape. The only issue, an intermittent one, was it had no throttle response, I believe the throttle may be going bad. I have an extra one. Although it only happened when the battery was low on volts. Not sure what was going on there.
