Tried that last night...didn't work. I'm gonna let it sit on the charger for a bit longer then try it again. Probably also gonna pull the TB off this weekend and give it a cleaning and check the electrical innards etc.

You have a multimeter? You could measure volts on the battery with the car on and off. Also you should see the butterfly move if you press the gas pedal, and you can measure the throttle angle in VCDS. Maybe a couple of things there you can verify.

Did defaulting the ECU clear the misfire codes?

Yes, it did clear the misfire codes. Now the only one that comes up is the last one I posted. I'll try and measure the battery voltage. Isn't there a way to check the battery v in VCDS? Measuring block #?

You'll find it in there if you just click through them.

Yanked this thing off today...pretty filthy. Haven't opened up the electro-guts yet to see how fouled they are.

Well, I got the TB all cleaned up. The electonics seemed to be in pretty good shape. I checked the battery with a multimeter (both car on and off). I also checked the voltage to the ECM via VCDS. There were a few annomalies that I noticed, which I am hoping is just indicating that my crappy NAPA battery (previous owner...not me) is the main culprit of all these issues. Using a multimeter, car off, the battery voltage was @ 13.8. With the ignition on, engine off, the voltage was 12.4. Engine on, I forgot to write it down. (helpful, I know.) Voltage to the ECM via VCDS was all over the place 11.1 to 11.6 with the average being 11.4. I couldn't do a TB adapt due to the low voltage (17972 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Under-Voltage during Basic Setting
P1564 - 35-00 - -)...needs to be at least 11.5 (this is all with the ignition on/engine off)

...clear codes...

I then had the code 17987 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Adaptation Not Started P1579 - 35-00 which I could not clear.

At this point I said F'it and just started the car (EPC and CEL lights on) to read the ECM voltage with engine running (like crap)...jumps up into the 12 range. I let it idle (if you want to call it that)for a bit. Once it smoothed out some, I turned the engine off and immediately defaulted the ECU followed by a TB adapt.
Worked perfectly. :retard:

Currently the CEL light and EPC light are off and the car is running like a champ. All that remains is to see how long it lasts.

My current guess is that, even though my batery is testing "fine" it is not producing clean power. Either that, or the ECM/ECU (whatever) is dying with a faulty regulator? :banghead:
