Looks like tin foil hanging out the main on the end at the pulley side :( Gonna pull the crank this weekend.

Well, then. How's the crank?

Good time for a hone, re-ring, re-con the rods, and new bearings. Be glad it's a 4 cylinder. :unibrow:

On a positive note......... to keep this thread confusing. I replaced a pile of vacuum lines, beefed up grounds and battery connections and replaced all the ignition components on the Calypso this weekend too. She is soooooo happy now. No more intermittent misfiring / poor running. Not sure if it was the wires or the funky Bosch tripple plugs.

Picked up the Outback from CA auto repair here in Bozeman this weekend (headgaskets, timing belt, and clutch..) and bs'd with the owner a bit. Chris is a great guy and just so happened to be the second owner of the Calypso which he got in Jackson years ago. So that makes you the 6th owner of that car. It's kind of crazy that it's in as good of shape as it is being from snow country it's whole life. He was happy that it's still around and in good hands. This small world strikes again!

Small world indeed. Nice to meet you Richie. Quick Calypso addition: him and his brother owned/drove that car i believe and bought it from a nice lady down in JH, who turned it over w a book of receipts. I remember when I had the Rocco, he told me he had ripped the Calypso up the Targhee hill climb. Little autocross style rally up the mountain road.

FYI: Chris @ C.A. Auto Repair has great Subaru/Toyota/Honda skills. If you don't want to fix your rice burner, send it his way.
(he was also with Rising Sun for years)
