im gettin a free 85 GTi. 50,000 original miles and garage kept sence new :D . sorry, no pics untill its in my posettion  . anyways, just wanted to let you guys know

EDIT for story:

well since your probbably wondering why, ill tell the story.
my friend lives across the street from this guy who has an 80 caddy diesel and a 82 rabbit diesel. i've always wanted the caddy so i finaly decided to go knock on his door. an older man, in his mid 80's answered the door. I inderduced myself and asked about the caddy and be begun to talk about VW's. I told him my story about how i got addicted to them. we continued the conversation for a good hour and a half. He has owned more then 30 VW's, half aircooled and the other half have been mainly diesels. He then told me that he had a garage full of rabbit parts that i could have when he decided to clean out the garage. He also said he has a 85 GTi sitting in storage, 50,000 original miles and garage kept since new, that i could also have "when the time is right". He told me that he would rather see it go to someone who knows what it is and will appriciate what it is. not just some kid who wants a car.

all in all he left a good impression on me. i like to consider him an "old skool" dubber.

Wow, that is great. My neighbor is in his 70's and drives a diesel Rabbit daily. He wants a new car and when I showed him my 16v he wanted to buy it from me...lol...

Sounds like you hit a gold mine there. Try to convince him that you need to see it because you haven't slept since he told you.

Go get it...don't make him mad though and lose your chance. Maybe ask if he would mind if you took it out and detailed it up.

well i went and talked to them again. i was at my friends house and my 79 2 door rabbit burned the fuel pump fuze  . so i went and knocked on there door and talked to them. the lady was very nice and i helped her sharpen the blade on her lawn mower and changed the oil for her 8) . I got to ride in her 81 4 door diesel. it was cool as i have never riden in one. She also have me a ride to the parts store for more fuzes :D . I asked about the GTi and i found out that they own a house they rent out close to my old house. Its just sitting in the garage all locked up. I didnt get to see it but at least i know were it is. im gonna go over there next week or later this week and ask if she wants me to get it running for her again. her husband is having some really bad health issues and was in the hospital for a few days :( . i really feel bad for them cuz they are just the sweetest old people i know. anyways thats all i have for this update.
