79 Westy - Sell or Part
Hi guys, I have decided to rid myself of my bus, I simply can not take care of it! I have put a ton of money into this project but realize it is not worth much anymore. Most of the work was done by Randy @ Randy's Bug Works in Worden. He put the motor together for me which has a 1.8l block stroked to 2.0 with a Scat crank, A pair of Weber IDA 40's provide the fuel and it does have the cool Bosch 009. The bus runs well but the carbs are too rich for the motor so it will backfire, especially with those short pipes. The bottom has front and rear sway bars and good K&B shocks. The body is bondo heaven and the interior is rough, I did get Vanagon seats and a cool gearshift but overall the condition is very rough. So the decision is to sell it "as-is" or just part it out? Any Ideas?

If you're not into it, then yeah I would say it's hard to keep putting money into it. As a fellow bus owner, parts are not cheap and not many people do ACVW work around MT except for Randy.
You could sell it whole, but you may get more parting it. If the body is full of bondo, then it's not worth much to anyone doing a restore, and bodywork gets very expensive. The motor and tranny are probably worth the most, depending on how much you put into it. What are you looking to get for those? I may be interested in the transmission for my '72, if you decide to part it. One of the other guys may be looking for a motor for his bug.
If you are interested in selling it whole, throw up a classified ad with pictures and a price - see what kind of response you get.
