I still have the original shield on my dizz cap too (I was swapped it over though). Does your cap have posts in the holes for the plug wires...mine does..old school. lol I know you will get this baby purring in no time. I have got lots of stuff from German Auto Parts for the MK2. I am sure you are familiar, they have lots of love for ya there

sounds 100% like old gummy cis parts, the pumps usually seize, but yours sounds like it is starting to lock up. Oreillys should stock the pump FYI, also has exact symptoms of the diagnosis when i got my rabbit running years ago (injectors) with carb cleaner with the nozzle off you should be able to stick the injector on it and press down to check spray pattern.

So I got that spare pump and acc. from Wade and swapped it in. The pump doesn't squeal anymore, but it still doesn't run. (Wade if you want some cash for that setup, let me know) I also swapped in a new cap and rotor and wires - it helped, but it still won't run. It's doing the same thing.
Time to get those injectors out and clean them or something. Other than the carb cleaner, any suggestions on getting the pintles moving again? Are they salvageable?
Brandon, whats the best way to pull those injectors? They just pull out right? I know there's a special tool, but I saw a post on the 'Tex about a guy using a pry bar and a bolt and nut to get them out...

I have the injector tool at the school and if you want it for the weekend you can swing by the school and pick it up. You can pull the injectors out of the head and look at the spray pattern. All you need is a bucket or drain pan to set them in. The CIS lines easily reach to a drain pan set on the engine. Then all you have to do is lift up on the air door with a magnet while bypassing your fuel pump relay. If works really slick. I do it every year to show the students how the Bosch system works.

I also have the fuel pressure tester for this system, but I need it this weekend. You can borrow that next week if you need it.
