Put a new head unit in the mk2 today. sounds decent...even though the speakers are original. it was just an inexpensive Alpine form best buy but, it plays mp3s and has usb and aux input on the front. No more listening to the radio only :)

Wired in the data port and scanned the passat today, 18 codes! now has 0! was wondering why i lost my MPG! power has been restored as well, now its not in: limp it the fuck home mode! now to sort the cruise control! also ordered the dash plastics from a euro junkyard. so the cruise module is up for grabs from the mk3!

works like a champion! never had an issue with it! Edit* to fix yours all you need is to take a 15-30 watt soldering iron, and just re-melt all the contacts you can get at and i GUARANTEE that will fix it, minus any other problems with the system..

Yeah, I have a second CC module (thanks to Sweatervest), which I originally intended on fixing, and I really should do that instead. But it is cold in the garage and I am feeling lazy......

Yea, I guess that would work also. Never thought about that. Now I just have to get the unit out of the car...
