dont know many places that actually sells an OTS cam. alot of them are custom to the setup that you are building.

SCHRICK, should have a nice mild one, as well as Scat, autotech. stock works pretty decent too, not for the numbers you are after tho.

having power issues

Post by olson1990 »

i have a 02 2.0 jetta with 1mm big valve kit and 276 cam. i had low power before i did the head swap and now it seems i have less power. i am not throwing any codes and i dont have any check engine lights on except for my timing. i have it advanced a lil. that helped. but i seriously cant brake a hundred. and it was that way before i did the head swap. other than low power the car runs smooth.

So no codes, except for your timing...? Can you explain that in detail?

And the head you swapped has the 276 cam - but the old head was the stock cam?

Bringing up the obvious here, it's a 2.0 and top speed will probably be about 100mph. And that would be on the track, correct?

ABAs do not use the hall on the distributor for timing. If you change it, the computer will automatically re adjust the timing. You will see this if you hook up a timing light and watch as you turn the distributor. Messing with it will only give you headaches on that motor. Also, is your cam timed properly(off a tooth)? Do you have low compression across all 4?

lol well yes i put the cam in when i did the big valve kit and on my old aeg motor i hit 120mph with just intake and ehaust. now i have avh bottom end with aeg head 1mm big valve kit and 276 tt cam. and can hardly brake a hundred. i have the close ratio trans geared to 120mph at 6200 rpm. and idk what the light is now i have not checked. but i had timeing set perfect and then advanced it and now light is on and set it back light wont come off.
