What does it take to remove the SAI stuff? And will the CEL fo away? I have had that one on for about 8 years now. But I figured it you don't roll a Mk3 with a CEL, you are doing something wrong....

Lol my cel came on like day two of owning my car and hasnt turned off once! Good to know I'm not the only one rolling with it on. I pulled my front end off to replace a leaking oil sensor. When I was in there I pulled the pump out and put the plug in. Pretty straight forward, you do get a cell for an sai incorrect flow but mine hasn't been plugged in for a year or two any how. From what I can tell the best way to turn off the cel is a c2 chip. I read something about putting in a resistor once on the tex but haven't been able to find it in a long time.

Resistor or bulb inplace of the sai makes the ECU think it's still there.

Yeah, I dod some searching on the tex last night. I already have it chipped, so I am not gonnna chip it again to get rid of a CEL I have lived with for that long. I don't like the idea of a light bulb on in the engine bay the whole time, so i'll do some more digging, and see what I come up with.

Re: volkSWAGEN SweaterVest style
i dont think it would be on all the time.. i think it would just be one cold start ups. because the sai just pumps air through the cat to heat it up faster as far as i know. but i think even with a bulb or resistor you might still get the incorrect flow cel? i could be wrong though
have any of you guy used ross tech VCDS? we just got it where i work. im still not the best at using it but do you think you could turn it off with that?

Wes you're right, the bulb/resistor won't work. You need a tuner who will write SAI out of the file. The resistor would just fool the ECU into thinking the SAI is still plugged in, but the O2 senor still reports incorrect values.
I have VCDS, and there's no tweak I know if to get rid of the P0411 SAI incorrect flow, other than to make it work. That's why I took my IE block of plate back off and put SAI stuff back in, I got sick of the CEL.
However, I still am getting a CEL after a couple of starts, and it's pissing me off.

Re: volkSWAGEN SweaterVest style
Yep CEL that is best fixed by the C2 chip. I have the light on and a 42 draft block off and a working SAI to put in
Renn keep us posted on the resistor idea...I too don't really to get another chip...
