Re: 4est's garage
Got parts installed that came with the car, wheel cylinders, shoes and sorted out the whole locked up rear brakes issue. this car was left for three years, hour job and the brakes are adjusted and the e brake works like new. people!
Got the master cylinder out for a rebuild maybe replacement. Clutch slave and master next. 38 year old system, wonder if i save myself the trouble and just replace it all with new? thoughts?
On another note, i found out this is the original engine. numbers all match

Re: 4est's garage
The other day i wanted to vacuum the old Passat, Six hours later, i had black carpet! Looks so much better! Now i need some floor mats. This was the state of the carpet.. NASTY!

And all black.

Now i need to detail the seats and door cards. What is the best product to use on leather?

Re: 4est's garage
Little update over here. Have been busy at school and life but i still try to make time to turn wrenches.
I had to enlist the bmw 2002 for daily driving duty last week when the wheel bearing failed in the passat, driving that car is a real hoot. Last month i finally rebuilt the 4 piston front calipers, got new pads, rotors and master cylinder. I made a power bleeder out of a garden sprayer. works like a charm. Also had to deal with rusted flare nuts, Rented a bubble flaring tool and was good to go. I should have got a brake booster the one i have is shot, but at least i can still drive without power asst. Made a fuel pump block off plate today. need to get shorter studs. Gonna sell it once i do a few more things

Got the B4 fixed. wheel bearing and hub. had a big Duh moment with the strut bearing on the racelands. had them installed wrong. but now they work like they should. got it to sit a little less slammed up front. next mini project is exhaust. cheers

Re: 4est's garage
Small update. got new wheels for the B4. Guy said they where audi TT wheels, not sure about that, trying to figure out what they came from. Anyone?

Also last may i traded the franken-BMW 2002 for a Vintage craftsman/atlas lathe. spent a month or so taking it all apart and getting it back to working order. 1948!

Re: 4est's garage
Forest good to see you back on the forum. If it they were off an Audi the bolt pattern would be 5x112. I thought the B4's had 5x100's but I could be mistaken. By the way are you going to make it to Billings for the Euro show?

Re: 4est's garage
Thanks guys. I like these 17s alot better than the stock wheels. I must say that i lucked out on price, 20 a wheel. 80 for the set! with tires mounted and balanced!!
wade ill look at the dates of the show, it would be worth the trip just to see the rabbit S
Also did another sweet mod to the B4 that i forgot to share. Got my hands on a B3 glove box and steering wheel. no more airbags here!

Re: 4est's garage
I could be wrong, but I am fairly sure the TT has a 5 x 100 bolt pattern. Seems like all of the "Fat Fives" are 5 x 100 anyway.YASHA7FOLD wrote:Forest good to see you back on the forum. I know the rest of the Audi line uses 5 x 112.
Unaffiliated.
