Re: 87.5 coupe gt "special build"
I just picked this shift knob up on ebay uk. I about shit myself with excitement when i saw it, so i bought it immediately. It will fit well in the coupe, its from an 83 cgt i believe. And I bet we didn't get this knob in the US.

Re: 87.5 coupe gt "special build"
It spring project time, so Kevin, aka t53a, and I decided to get the turbo swap going in the coupe. The engine is originally from an 87 5000cs, was transplanted into Kevins Quantum syncro, and now is living life in the coupe. However, she's not running yet. Everything is wired in correctly and tested, but since we used the flywheel and clutch from the original front wheel drive, I believe the crank sensors are not picking up what the flywheel is throwing down, so no spark and thus no fuel
So MSD ignition may be in my future, or I'll bite the bullet and figure out this CIS garbage. And once we get this all figured out, we will most likely end up using the syncro system from the quantum to quattro the coupe. But for now some pics:)
Good bye golf, hello turbo (and someday quattro) coupe

Here's the reason why the car was $300, well partly anyways.

Old na 2.3

Sweet project! However, Syncro and Quattro are not the same.
It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.

VW quantum is basically a clone of audi 4000. That is why they both share the b2 platform. They were made in the same factory and even under the hood of the quantum it has a sticker that says audi 4000 quattro/quantum syncro group. The only difference is in the rear suspension, VW had their own design which is similar to mk2 and simpler than the 4k quattro rear suspension.

Guess I was wrong about the early quattros. Newer ones have the Torsen center diff?

Not sure, I'm an old school audi guy. Apparently one of two on the site, unless you know any others.
