No, I'm not. I just moved to Havre recently and brought my obsession with me.

Ok, I'm bored so I'm gonna continue with a thread here. And I'll start from the very beginning.

When I first got the car. Notice how the ass end is up in the air, yeah, that's gotta get fixed.
Image

One of the first things I did to the car, which I later on undid as it looked like crap was fiberglass in the dash.
Image

So, after a while of driving it, I noticed that the doors were leaking bad and had major rot at the bottom edges. So, I sold the original doors and replaced them with some orange ones. Same day I did that, I lowered the back end. Much better look and handle.
Image

A while later, my passenger side spindle snapped so I decided that while I was at it, I was gonna put in a narrowed adjustable beam. Which went in beautifully. Next time I build a beam, I'm gonna do it a bit differently.
Image

After the beam was in, had it sittin pretty low to the ground.
Image

After a little adjustment with it, got it to a decent height. Yeah, that's right, my zippo doesn'tt even fit under it.
Image

My 68 sittin next to my buddy Kevin's 66 bahama blue. That was after a little outing.
Image

Didn't like the offset of the empi 8's so, off they cam and on went a set of original vw sport wheels wrapped in 135's. Now that's what I call tuck.
Image

Much better stance. Especially after being able to adjust the beam down a little more.

I picked up an early gas tank as the plan for the 68 was to remove anything that looked late model on the outside.
Image

After a little bit of primer.
Image

And the final paint. Just semi gloss black but it sure looks good.
Image

Up on jack stands and apart she comes. This is where I started my rebuild back in 2010.
Image

More taken apart.
Image

Notice how bad the dash actually was.
Image

Pan off the body and in front of the garage. No, that skrawny guy ain't me. That's my buddy Jay.
Image

And, then the dash came out.

Along with the dash coming out, so did the fuel filler door and the luggage tray.
Image
Image

Fuel door got welded in, along with eve, this is gonna be a warm weater driver.
Image
Image

Too much rust on the oposing side so this side got a full piece of steel.
Image

Got out of the military so loaded up the bug in pieces and went home to CA.
Image

Went to work for a vw resto shop and talked with my boss who I had known for years and after talking with him about my car said I should just do a body swap. So, I did.
Out with the old.
Image

In with the new.

Decede that I didn't want to hack up the wheel wells of this body like I did with the original for the beam so I took the beam out and notched the towers. Coated it with a good coat of undercoating and test fit. A litle massaging with a dead blow hammer and she was as good as new.
Image
Image

Got some new coveralls from my boss to work on the project in. Yeah, they're from a So Cal Vw dealership.
Image

Pulled the pan completely apart and shipped it off to have powdercoated. Was definately worth the money and time.
Image
Image

While I was waiting for the pan to come back I built my hot rod wagon. Gotta do somethin with my time.
Image

Completely stripped the axle tubes, brake hardware and transaxle and painted semi gloss black. Goes very well with the pan.
Image
Image

Original pedal assembly and cb performance gas pedal to boot.
Image

Pan completely assembled with all new brakes, master cylinder, and stanless steel lines.
Image

And then you have the completed transaxle.
Image

Once again I had to move. This time to Montana for a job so loaded up the truck and trailer and headed out east. Hopefully soon I'll be able to start back up on this project but not before I pick up my 74 panel bus from New mexico.
