Quarter flares came in the mail yesterday. Hoping to get some progress made today if the weather cooperates. The in laws are all coming to town this weekend, so it's today or next week....

Well damn, it's been a bit. The humidity finally broke today after weeks of 80-90 degrees with 80-95% humidity... Lets just say you take a cold shower, and are sweating again before you can dry yourself off...I know it's hard to explain.

Went to a cloudy Cars and Coffee this morning and the air dried out, so I ran with the motivation.

Picked up some Corrado steelies off of a guy who had them on his Integra last week for cheap. I sold the Vial's a few weeks ago - 14's won't work for me...

Image

I wasn't sure about the white at first - but it has grown on me. Got them mounted up last week.

Image

The missing trim and mess under the doors was driving me nuts although I love the steelies on there. :banghead:

SO - today was the day...

Used my new best friend the heat gun to help me get the double sided tape residue off and then sanded it all down as best I could.

Image

After that was done, I masked off as much as I felt I should. There was a breeze, but I may have gone overboard...

Image

Put on two coats of primer and then two coats of rubberized undercoating paint. Got the small trim mounted just in front of the doors and test fitted the rear quarter flares finally after heat gunning them.

Then I put two layers of painters tape on and heat gunned all of the belt trim - it had been painted at some point much improved! Here is where we stand now. :)

Image

Took off the Norschleife badge that was on there and decided on the old school GLI badge for the look I am going for.

Image

I also got out the Gorilla glue and fastened the shifter map on the golf ball knob. It kept flying off! And fixed the cracked rear tub.

All in all a great day in the driveway.

Thanks guys. I am really happy with how she sits now... I also found out that I have a heated storage bay for the winter under our office. My boss and his brother keep their IT-B race cars down there, so there is a fully functional shop. She will be in good company as he drives a MK3 Golf and his brother has an Audi Coupe GT. :) There are also two Sciroccos so plenty of good German company.

That will be where I do some serious work in the engine bay as they have all of the tools needed and some of the knowledge. No rust for this baby!!! :)

Looks great! I like the paint on the bottom and the white actually does look nice.

Went out and took some glamour shots by Deb this morning as I was bored and everyone was asleep. :smirk:

Not my best work but hey - its out of my driveway for once.
