How many miles are on it? It's good thing you like the 2.7T because you'll probably get to know it intimately, but it has amazing potential.

Re: 201motels 2004 A6 2.7T
^ Thanks.
I'm really loving the car so far. A week ago I took it on a 2400 mile trip and it performed flawlessly. Today I dropped it off at the body shop to have the front end damage repaired. And after it's finished I will be buying a new set of wheels. Pics to come.

I got my car back from the body shop today. It looks good. When I got in it to drive away a warning light came on that had to do with the automatic leveling xenon headlights. I had the body shop replace the rh side headlight assembly with a used one I picked up. I tried to scan the car with the cheap vag com cable I got from ebay. No luck there. My friend has some crazy new snap-on scan tool he says will work on the Audi. I'm hoping this won't be an expensive fix. Until I figure the problem out the new rims are on hold.

Check to see if the level sensor that measures the angle of the car's suspension is connected. It's a little plastic arm that attaches from frame to control arm on inside the driverside fender well. I believe there's one in the rear as well. Often times it get's disconnected for repairs and either the arm or wire connector isn't reconnected. This tells the car what "level" is in order to set the headlight angle.

Re: 201motels 2004 A6 2.7T
Thanks for the tip. I read that on the Audi forums last night too. I put it on the lift at my work and took a quick peek. Unfortunately I don't have the time or torx to remove the inner fender liner to check and see if its plugged in. But I'm guessing it's not. I know the body shop removed the front bumper fascia to repaint it and I wouldn't be surprised if it was disconnected. I tried to disconnect the wiring harness from the headlight I replaced to try and plug it back into the old one and see if the error code is still present. But for the life of me I couldn't get it to unplug from the headlight.

Well the level sensor seems to be ok. But I noticed that the body shop forgot to reconnect one of the headlight washer hoses. I've got a free vice grip now.
I'm going to take it to my buddies shop tonight. He can scan it to see what it's saying. And hopefully he can disconnect the headlight pigtail so I can reconnect the old headlight to see if that's the problem.

I took the car to my friend's shop last night. He hooked his scanner to the car and was able to read and clear the codes (airbag light was on too) and they haven't come back. Sweet.

I'm trying to read up on ways to start modifying the engine. It seems like the tiptronic transmission can't handle larger power increases for very long. That being said I have some cash and I wouldn't mind dumping it into the engine but I don't know where to start.

First things I would do would be exhaust, downpipes or at least piggies, DV's, and a JFonz tune. Those things alone will surprise you with the power it will make
FrankenTurbos, SSAC downpipes and twin 1 exhaust, 034 snub mount, motor mounts and tranny mounts, Vast stage 3 clutch and lightweight flywheel, Bosch 52lb injectors, 034 85mm maf, Wagner Engineering SMIC's with carbon fiber shrouds, DeatschWerks fuel pump, JFonz, and more....
