MK3 OB1 heated seats in OB2?
Just bought some heated seats from a 94 jetta for my 98 glx that has beat sport seats and the 94 seats have a switch on the seat and only 2 wires to the connector where as my 98 has the switch on the dash and a 4 wire conector. was wondering if i could just run power and ground to the old seats to make them work so i dont have to hack my stock seat heater harness.
by the way the guy i got the seats from told me about his site so i am new to the forum.
thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site! It looked like those had been modded to just take 12v directly. Did you ask Kevin if he knew what had been done? Do you have access to a Bentley manual?
Obd1 and obd2 should have little to to with body wiring, both use VW's CE2 wiring. Check out a2resource.com , it's a little older info, but you might find something there.

He thought they were a stock wiring but if its just 12v i can splice a ground and power to it right? i was thinking of testing it with a ghetto set up through the AC plug. thank for the welcome.

By ac plug you don't mean a wall socket right?

I don't know if those heaters will take a full 12 volt supply. My car has the roller switch, which I believe is a potentiometer, to limit voltage. You could actually burn them out or start a fire if they are not able to take full voltage.

Edit, I saw the other posts on these seats. Judging from the rocker switches, I would say either the factory heaters have been replace by a single voltage aftermarket kit, or they will take a full 12 volts, and will always be on high.

Well, you are gonna want switched power, and you are going to want to fuse the circuits for sure, we don't want anything catching fire, now. You should be able to get a good source at the fusebox, IIRC there are some switched power lugs under there. I would start with a 10 amp fuse and see if it blows before they warm up. I have put tons of aftermarket heaters in over the years, but I can't remember the fuse amperage right now.
