325e not running right. Help?

Post by Checkers »

Ok, the project. 1985 BMW 325e.
Starts great usually and you can run it for a half hour or 5 minutes. Shut it off and suddenly it may or may not fire back up.
It it does fire you can run it twenty minutes or so, shut it off and it will crank over and fire with the pedal down for awhile and it will run terribly for awhile before simple dying.
Any ideas?
It sputters and tries to start when you turn the key and will keep firing if you keep on the starter.
However the second you let the key return to run from start it dies.
I'm stumped. Please help me out if you can! Anything is appreciated.

I would agree, symptoms defenitely point to a fueling problem.

No kidding man! Everything seems to be pointing to fuel pump. But it's a tad bit expensive so it may be awhile before I can replace it. Thanks for the advice everyone, damn bimmers.
