Oil pressure gauge (non-m3chanical)
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a kit but I am wondering if anyone has installed one on a 2L? Supposedly there is a 5mm bolt on the oil filter housing and the sender screws in. Haven't looked yet...is it really that easy? Aeron: if you have a kit or can set me up I'll buy from you. I also want to pick up a beige A-pillar pod.

YOu have to remember that you will need enough room to fit that oil sender also. Sometimes there is not enough room. I just installed one in a 1.8T not too long ago, and I think I needed some elbows or something, but I am not sure. I can get the autometer stuff easy, it just depends on what series of face you want. I don't have any beige pillar pods, but I do have single and dual steering wheel mounts.
Now that I think about it, you meant it was a 5mm hex bolt, in that case, yes, that is where you want to install it. I think the actual hole is 8 or 10 mm That bolt can be a beatch to get out, and you don't want it to break for sure. The sending units are usually about 2" by 3" or so. single wire hookup, pretty easy install.

Hmmm...well I was looking at a kit ECS sells that is an NV 56mm perfect match type gauge so it would match my dash lights, and then the A pillar pod from 42DD. Kinda spendy, but would be sweet. Thought to ask you because I would much rather get it locally. If you can get the gauge and sender I can handle the wiring and the pod...possible?
Edit: So I guess I want black face and ring, perfect match led, red hand, full sweep, electric...

Sounds like you have it pretty much down. If you can find the exact match for what you want, go for it, I won't be offneded. I was also going to suggest you look into the 42DD stuff also, but you are already ahead of me. Wiring should be easy, I can provide colors and locations, and advice if needed.
P.S. I have an Avatar!!
I looked into it and the closest I can come is the autometer Cobalt series, but it has a silver ring around it. probably wouldn't go with the theme and all. Linkz anyway

Actually I think you need one from the "Golden Oldies" line of gauges. How about this one?!

In reality, I say screw it and go down to the local Pep Boys and get yourself a $15.99 mechanical special. I have one on the GTI. Works just fine. stop being so needy.

Lol - ya I am needy. I'm "that other guy" I guess...but I usually know what I want. I want the electrical because if I ever get a leak it would be a mess...
and with my luck it would leak at least once. I saw the Cobalt and that's really close, but I like the matching LED and don't like the chrome ring. I'll probably go for the kit from ECS and the pod from 42DD. Unless someone has a used pod...
That golden oldie may be good if you had a blown Ghia...
And I hope the Av is OK...I uploaded it to the gallery and invaded your profile.
Anyone else wants one PM me and send me the picture file(s).

The best bang for the buck I've seen is ISSOPRO. But our red is easier to match than your blue stock guages. But they are good gauges for solid prices and you can put a blue diffuser on them, but like I said, haven't seen how they match.

Thats a pretty sweet site - they have a ton of gauges and everything needed. I wish they had a picture of the gauge in the dark so I could see the backlight.

Check out this thread...he has a boost gauge but the company makes all sorts of gauges. He used the new south gauge with 42dd perfect match leds. looks pretty good to me.
