I bought this car for $500 due to the fact it did not run. It would start, idle really high then die. It had a shitty after market stereo in it, a $10 stock passat stereo from the junk yard later it started up beautifully and now runs like a beast.
Thanks to some forum reading and YouTube videos I'm now crushing in this daily.
I'm getting some wheels this weekend and also checking out springs.
I love the car as it is stock so not sure how far I'm gonna go but well see

When I went into the VW dealership in town to get the security code for the stock radio they said it was odd yet understandable suggesting it was wired wrong and the security was not letting the car run due to thinking the radio was just stolen, which makes me wonder if the previous owner just ripped the deck out like a thieve and threw the new one in.

He probably did. You have to jump a few wires to make it work i believe
