Re: new pickup
I meant the pump itself will work fine. I used the OBD1 management system.

Thanks Wade!! Just what I wanted to hear. I will be using obd1 motronic with a digi out of tank fuel pump... the pump is a little seized right now gonna let her soak overnight and see if it'll free up tomorrow.YASHA7FOLD wrote:I meant the pump itself will work fine. Re: new pickup
And it runs
No $300 techtonics downpipe and no ce2 conversion. Unfortunately it happens to be one of snowiest days of the year so no driving fast for me... I couldn't get my digi fuel pump to work so I grabbed a late 80's vanagon inline pump from Brax for cheap. Works just fine
I modified the mk3 downpipe by chopping out the bendy part out and welding in some straight pieces so it could clear the steering rack. I still have to figure out the coolant gauge, oil warning light, and check engine light.
It also appears my rear window is leaking... I wish I just had a solid rear window the carpet and backing was soaked when I pulled it out.
Also replaced the dash with a much nicer and less cracked one (Thanks Forest!!!), found a cool mk2 steering wheel, mk1 gti leather shift boot, and will most likely be using mk3 seats. I also lengthened the mk3 weighted shift rod and installed that too. When she's all finished I will post some pictures. For now, you can just look at this post and yawn

Re: new pickup
Snow let up today and I decided it was time for a test drive
This thing rips!! Quite a bit faster than even my mk4 vr6. I know this thread is useless without pics... Still gotta put the interior back together, finish some wiring, and clean her up and I'll get some pics posted.
Technicals:
OBD2 aba running OBD1 motronic
2y GLI close ratio trans
Techtonics EPROM chip (only 9 extra horses but has better torque throughout its range)
Bennotonics downpipe
Bennotonics weighted shift linkage upgrade

Re: new pickup
Started the truck this morning when it was -10 and it fired right up. That is the first time it has started in the cold since I've owned it. I'm so glad I went through with the gas swap.

Re: new pickup
So I let my gf borrow the truck the other day and the engine lost oil pressure, so she pulled right over and turned it off (I trained her right
) Unfortunately, the damage was already done. I pulled the oil pan and it was like panning for gold
no worries though it was an obd2 aba with almost 300k on it. I'm surprised it lasted this long. So, onto a new engine. I will be rebuilding my 140k obd1 aba. The bearing look a tiny bit worn and when i pulled the intermediate shaft, some of the babbitt came off one of those bearing. Good think I'm rebuilding it! Anyways, here's the truck as it sits now. Updates on the engine build coming soon, I'm getting parts next week.
