Jetta rad support issue

Post by GLXfish »

So i went to do my radiator and was having a hard time getting the front clip off. I then noticed that the rad support was mounted under the fenders not on top of them like ive seen in the bently or in DIYs. So i removed the to fender mounting bolts and bam, someone welded the rad support to the underbody! :banghead: So now the problem im having is getting then fenders off so i can cut the old support off and put on a new one. My plan is to grind out the welds and prime the area so it doesn't rust. I'm pretty sure if i take the wheels and bumper cover off i ca get at the fender bolts, right? Also was wondering if anyone had any tips for lining the body up when i reinstall. Thanks for any help, this project just got pretty huge.

Not really related but anyone know if u can buy just the plastic piece that clips onto the back of the front grill or do i have to buy a whole new grill assembly?

You'd need a new grill. And yeah the bumper has to come off, inner fenders removed, and I think there may be one or two bolts hiding hiding (like covered in that gooey shit they spray on) on the inside of the fenders towards the doors.
