I've got something ligned out, but thats on the TDi. I'm gonna start with the 1.6NA from an 85 golf first.

This will allow me to figure out cooling, mounts and exhaust so I can get this at least moving. Then once the rest of the Bus is solid, it'll get it's real power. The 1.6 still has moar power than the AC motor (barely). Proof of concept on a cheaper motor.

Still working on fecal mitigation, but I need to focus on something fun for a while if this is going to make any progress. I am going to be working on motor mounts and a cross bar with my limited metal fab skills and experience over the next week. I would like to have the motor in the bay soon. Then I'll get a wave of motivation.

This thing has been in my driveway for way too long. Time to sheet or get off the pot.....................

Been working hard at getting motor mounts and subframe built over the last week. Ill post photos when its done.

The only mod to the bus will be a couple reinforcement plates on the frame rails. Subframe will easily bolt in and out, supporting most vw 4cyls and maybe some others, with OE motor mounts. Its not purdy, but should double as a trailer hitch, and make for less modification of the Bus itself. Most of the engine weight will be on the stock bus mounting locations.

Sick dude! Im rooting for this project, done right you will have a valuable bus on your hands. Good work. You going to mod the engine lid?
